TowSense modification pathways
Modifying a light vehicle in Western Australia
Western Australia's modification process distinguishes minor work from changes needing inspection or further approval. Start with Transport WA's official guidance and confirm the category for the complete proposal.
Many minor modifications do not need specific approval, but must still meet applicable standards. This does not mean every accessory, wheel, tyre or suspension change is exempt.
For work outside the minor category, confirm the application, engineering evidence, inspection and modification-permit requirements before starting. Ask specifically about current and proposed ratings for any GVM increase.
Keep original specifications, kit documents, installation records and approvals together. Follow Transport WA's instructions for inspection and recording changes; this Navigator does not issue a permit or determine a legal modification limit.
Prepare a modification evidence worksheetFree evidence preparation for four modification groups across all eight Australian states and territories. No approval or certification is provided.
